Minion Happy Birthday

This News Feed on my Facebook page caught my attention, and so I made a card for Taliq. I am sending this card to some challenges and hope anyone that views this card will make and send a card to Taliq.

"Tanisha Davis has only one wish this year — and that is to make her son, Taliq, feel really special when he turns 10 on July 22. So she's calling upon the kindness of strangers to send him birthdays cards in hopes that they will encourage him during his battle with cancer."  Click on Taliq above for more information or go to the bottom of this post to find out more...

FRESHLY MADE Sketches #195
I know this was a stretch from the sketch, but it does have three minions.  Just submitting for more Challengers to join in and send a card to Taliq.

In February, Taliq was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic potine glioma, a rare form of cancer that affects the lower back of the brain and decreases nervous system function. Since his tumor is inoperable, Taliq has been receiving radiation treatments and taking 16 medications.

"The radiation made him really tired, so he slept a lot, and then the steroids they had him on just totally made him irritable," Tanisha, who is from Killeen, Texas, told People. "He gained 55 pounds in three months, so it's just been hard for him overall."
In hopes to make him feel better, the mother-of-four came up with the idea to ask for birthday cards when she noticed Taliq frequently checking the mail. "My sister would send him cards to encourage him, so every day he would want to go check the mail. Some days he would have mail and some days he wouldn't," she said. "So I thought, 'Well, maybe if I asked my Facebook friends to send him birthday cards, he could go check the mail and there would be something there for him.'"
Well, it looks like Tanisha got her wish: Since appearing and making her request public on her local news station, KWTX, cards and gifts have started pouring in. "I've gotten probably 12 boxes, 5 gift bags, and about 80 pieces of mail in two days," Davis says. "It just shows him that there are a lot of people out there who support him that don't even know him, and it just helps him to want to continue to fight."
In fact, the family has received so much support they're even changing the venue of Taliq's birthday party to accommodate all the people who've asked to attend, she told People. "It was supposed to be a block party, but I got such a tremendous response that we now have to move it. Hundreds of people have contacted me wanting to come out and support him."
Although his mother has asked Taliq to wait until his birthday to open the cards, she already notices that all the kindhearted attention has lifted his spirits.
"He had been down for the last few days, but yesterday was the first time I've really seen him smile in a long time," she said. "As a mother, words cannot describe how grateful I am for what people are doing for my son."
If you would like to send Taliq a birthday card, you can mail it to: 5106 Donegal Bay Ct., Killeen, TX 76549.
